Alana Thompson has been a public figure since before she was in elementary school—meaning growing up unfolded in front of cameras. Thompson added that her fans expect her to be a little Honey Boo Boo but she has changed a lot over the years. She said that just because she is from the south, people expect her to be all country bumpkin riding on four-wheelers. She even mentioned that she does not like the way the people of her age are critical of body types that are outside of what is seen as acceptable.
She became popular after appearing on the TLC reality series Toddlers and Tiaras from to which followed several child pageant participants and their families as they got ready for the competition.
Paired with Tristan Ianiero, they got eliminated in the fourth week. She has appeared on other shows like Jimmy Kimmel Live! It's something I'd wish on nobody, for real. More importantly, she makes feeling comfortable with herself a priority, despite how today's social media economy breeds comparison. But I do not care. As long as I like myself, I'm good. I am my own person. Body shaming is something directed at her every single day in her comments section, she shares.
Everybody's all about body positivity, body positivity , until they see a body they don't like. I'll never get body shaming. Alana focuses more on how she feels about herself, in her own skin, than what commenters have to say. She thinks we need to be showing all different kinds of bodies, which is something she thinks pageants actually excel at.
What made her stand out in those situations was her personality, she points out. Directly across from the couch where Alana sits, a team is dismantling folding tables of shoes and shuffling racks of clothes out of the room. Alana is unperturbed by the chaos. Perhaps in a habit borne of years of on-camera interviews, Alana repeats almost every question back when she answers, half thinking aloud, half framing what she shares with the conciseness of a sound bite.
In other words, things a life is made of. On the show, she tries to have an intervention with Shannon, begging her to take a step back and look at how her relationship with Geno is breaking up the family. Sometimes with kids, bad grades and poor behavior in school can be a sign of trouble at home. On the series, Thompson tells her older sister Lauryn "Pumpkin" Shannon that school is "good" and that she has all As and Bs in her classes.
Shannon replies that she's happy to see that Thompson is thriving in her academic pursuits, in spite of her rocky family situation. It seems that the former pageant star isn't just a beauty queen; she has beauty and brains. Besides, school probably offers a much-needed respite from the chaos of her home life. While the pair had a close relationship on Toddlers and Tiaras , when Shannon put her daughter through childhood beauty pageants , things have gone down hill as Thompson has gotten older.
Mainly, Thompson has had to watch her mother spiral with substance abuse while in a toxic relationship. Sadly, Thompson said her mom doesn't seem to be the same person who raised her, according to Access. Meanwhile, Thompson is trying to cope with the whole situation the best way she knows how: by using humor. But not everyone is laughing , as Honey Boo Boo's sisters have grown up quite a bit.
She told OK! Magazine that the only time she sees him these days is when she's filming with him. While Thompson tries to tell her father that she wishes they had a better relationship, and that she wants to see him at least once a month, he doesn't seem to care. Additionally, Thompson said that he's trying to buy her love with Christmas presents, but probably doesn't even remember her birthday, and barely texts her. What's the reason for the distance? Thompson thinks that her father doesn't have a close relationship with her because she's a girl.
Apparently, she was told that he always wanted a son, so she assumes that he's disappointed to have gotten her as his daughter. Honey Boo Boo's sisters have grown up quite a bit. She even moved in with Shannon when things hit the fan with her mother. Shannon also has a daughter of her own, whom Thompson is extremely fond of. Thompson then went on about everything she loves doing for her niece, from "making sure that the car seat is strapped in properly before every trip" to "watching [her] breathe while she sleeps.
Additionally, Thompson said that being an aunt is super fun. She added that aunts are the people who take you out for ice cream and to the park after a meltdown, and that she can't wait to do that for her niece. Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson was a pageant queen as a child, so she's had a lot of practice in the spotlight.

I mean, it was a couple ounces a day. In early , June and Geno checked themselves into the Banyan Treatment Centre in Florida for 23 days, and by August, the couple announced they were six months clean.
In the series premiere of June's show, this time titled Mama June: Road to Redemption , which premiered in March , June and Alana sat down with family therapist Dr Ish, to discuss how June's drug addiction affected her family.
During their sit-down, Alana explained to her mum that when her addiction was at its worst, she felt abandoned. Alana on Mama June: Road to Redemption. Image: We TV. Why wasn't you there when I needed you most? In July , Geno was sentenced to 16 months in prison for his drug possession charges, while June received hours of community service.
She continues to try to rebuild her relationship with her daughters. While she still appears on her mum's reality TV show, she also attends high school, works on weekends and hopes to become a neonatal nurse someday. Oh, and she no longer wishes to be called Honey Boo Boo.
